This prestigious awards ceremony will take place at the Apex Hotel in Bath on 15th November 2018.  The evening will commence at 6.30pm (6pm for sponsors) with drinks, followed by a delicious locally sourced three course dinner, then the awards hosted by Laura Rawlings from BBC Radio Bristol, with dancing till midnight.  

Award-winning radio presenter Laura Rawlings hosts the drivetime show on BBC Radio Bristol - following a stint as the corporation’s Breakfast and Afternoon presenter for Bristol and Somerset. Throughout Laura’s decade long broadcasting radio career, her warm voice has been heard hosting news, music and speech shows on stations across the dial from the West Country to Yorkshire.  We are delighted that Phil de Glanville will also be joining us. He played for 12 years at Bath rugby club (with over 200 appearances), including captaining the team for an unprecedented 5 years, winning 3 league and cup doubles and the European cup and now lives with his family in Bath.

Giles Adams will be our guest speaker on the evening. Giles is managing editor of What’s on Somerset magazine and a board member of Visit Somerset.  Born at Felton (conveniently close to our lead sponsor Bristol Airport), he now lives at Curry Mallet where he writes about the county. 

This black tie dinner is the event of the year for Somerset, Bristol and Bath leading tourism businesses. 

The Apex has a limited number of hotel rooms available for guests at a special rate of £134 (single occupancy), £145 (double) bed and breakfast subject to availability they can be booked here.

Tickets cost £65+VAT each, including welcome drinks, a 3 course meal, see below, with wine, beer and cider and can be booked here.  They are only available for finalists and sponsors.  The event starts at 6.30pm (6pm for Sponsors) with formalities ending by 11pm (though dancing and the bar will be open till midnight), guests are then welcome in the Hotel bar till late.

To start

Duck and fig terrine with an apple and pear Somerset cider chutney, garnished with melba toast

Heritage tomato and Bath soft cheese salad served with olive oil and balsamic reduction (v only available if pre ordered)

Main

6oz Fillet Steak (cooked medium) with potato gratin, butternut squash puree, steamed greens and a red wine jus

Winter Vegetable Risotto (v only available if pre ordered)

Dessert

Warm apple strudel with Granny Gothards salted caramel ice cream

Beer kindly provided by Bath Ales

Gem (4.8% ABV) Full bodied and malty; Gem is Bath Ales’ flagship premium beer. It’s a well-balanced amber ale that sees the malty character from the Maris Otter barley really shine through.

Cider kindly provided by Thatchers Cider

Thatchers Gold Thatchers Gold is full of flavour made with specially selected apples, many of which are harvested from our own family orchards in Somerset. Made using traditional techniques and expertise gained since 1904, this crafted medium dry cider has a smooth and refreshing taste. Like with all our cider, it simply doesn’t leave the farm until it’s perfect.
